Diocesan Protection Conference
Following the success of last year’s conference we are planning another towards the end of this year.
Supply Priests
A number of clergy from other dioceses and overseas make requests to carry out their ministry in this Diocese. There are both Canonical and National guidelines on how these clergy should be “checked” before being granted permission by the Bishop to carry out their ministry. We have been working with the Rev. Monsignor Michael Tully, Chancellor, who is responsible for such applications, to ensure that the guidelines are implemented safely. A copy of the guidelines for this Diocese is attached.
Policy on photographs.
There have been a number of enquiries about the use and display of photographs of children in church premises. There is a National Policy covering this which is attached to this newsletter. If you have any further queries please get in touch.
Three year term of office for Parish Representatives.
We apologise for the delay in sending out the letters to LCPRs who have been in office for three or more years. We hope to do this in the near future.
If you have any queries about this please ring the office on 01772 728 433.
Vulnerable Adults – parishes in the Cumbria Local Authority boundaries.
Cumbria L A has produced a booklet outlining its policies on Vulnerable Adults. These polices apply to Cumbria only. A copy of the booklet is enclosed for LCPRS in these Parishes.
Deanery group meetings .
We would be happy to attend one of your Deanery meetings in 2007. Please let us know the dates and venues and we will come along to each Deanery once in the year. From our records three deaneries have not held a meeting within the last twelve months.
APF Mission Boxes(red boxes)
We have had confirmation that the Zealators are not required to go through the CRB process
Office hours over Easter
The office will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday 4 th April and will reopen on Wednesday 10 th April.
Any telephone messages will be retrieved on a daily basis
Telephone messages
Just to remind you that the telephones are not manned at all times. However, they are checked for messages every day. Please leave your message and give some indication of the best time for one of us to call you back. It would help if you could speak slowly when giving your ‘phone number and also the date and time of your message because the system does not record this information.
Finally –
We send everyone our very best wishes for a holy, happy and peaceful Easter
Rose Anderson and Chris Barwise
